There are no precautionary boil water advisories
The Edwardsville Water Corporation is a non profit corporation established in October, 1963 by virtue of the Laws of the State of Indiana, for the express purpose of creating and maintaining a supply of fresh, potable water to residents of Edwardsville and its surrounding areas.
On June 9, 2023, by determination of the Board of Directors of Edwardsville Water Corporation as being of public benefit to the general welfare of the Corporation and the Corporation's ratepayers, and without impairment of the rights, powers, privileges, and exemptions of the Corporation, in order to reduce regulatory costs, a resolution was filed with the Indiana Secretary of State to dissolve the Corporation and reconstitute as Edwardsville Water Authority, a political subdivision of the State of Indiana. With this conversion, the company is still subject to all laws applicable to nonprofit water utilities and water corporations. The structure of the Board of Directors and By-Laws of the Corporation remains the same and all existing liabilities, contracts, agreements, and powers of eminent domain remain in effect.
All rates and charges are set pursuant to Indiana Code and are governed by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC), in conjunction with the Indiana Office of Utility Consumer Counselor (OUCC).
Each property owner within the Edwardsville Water Corporation service area wishing to be supplied with water, must pay a membership fee and be furnished a signed Membership Certificate. If purchasing on contract, the contract must be recorded at the court house. Otherwise, the contractor buyer is NOT considered the property owner. The cost of the Membership is governed by our current Tariff.
No member shall hold more than one (1) membership Certificate, nor be allowed more than one (1) vote on issues at meetings of the collective members.
The member is responsible for payment of all charges assessed to each tap in (meter) established on his or her membership.
The membership Fee shall be refunded by the Water Authority, and the membership Certificate shall be surrendered by the member, upon sale of property to a new owner, provided that the member does not still own other property on our service system.
